A WAKIZASHI IN KOSHIRAE, EDO PERIOD JapanJapan, Edo period (1603-1868), possibly 17th centuryBladeShinogi-tsukuri with one iori mune, gunome hamon with nie and nioi, itame hada. The nakago is mumei with three nakago-ana, the yasurime is possibly sujikai but hard to identify due to its age, kiri jiri.MountingOval-round iron tsuba with ryohitsu, the openworked motif shows large lotus leaves. Bronze fuchi and kashira, both showing stalks bundled for the Shinto cult, partly silverplated and gilded, on fine nanakoji. The menuki show a similar motif. The black-lacquered saya with speckles. Dimensions: NAGASA 47.8 CM, TOTAL LENGTH IN KOSHIRAE 65.8 CMCondition: The blade overall in fine condition, very minor expected surface scratches and blemishes.
