5th-3rd century BC. A bronze flower mount, accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Miniature Bronze Pilaster, 59 x 62mm. This is a highly decorative column-head, with open 'bud' revealing a spray of 'leaves' resting on a curving band over a closed shoot. The whole rests on a standard type of column head. This is Achaemenid, dating to c.500-300 B.C., coming from any part of the Achaemenid empire. It is a fine piece and in very good condition.' 84 grams, 59mm (1 1/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection number Z-119, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s. Fine condition.
