A CIZHOU OIL LAMP STAND XING LU, SONG
China, Northern Song - Jin Dynasty (960-1234). The lamp with a tapering stem and a splayed high foot, the upper part of mushroom form with a central aperture. Covered with a white slip and a colorless glaze, stopping above the foot, exposing the buff ware.
Provenance: Blitz Antiek En Kunsthandel, H.J. Blitz, July 10th, 1985. From a private Scottish collection of early Chinese ceramics, purchased from the above. The original invoice from Blitz accompanies this lot.
Condition: Excellent condition with wear as expected on a piece of this age. Some manufacturing flaws here and there. Some open glaze bubbles. Stronger wear to the rim of the aperture.
