Monogrammed "LI" (François Linke, 1855 - 1946).
Oak wood body with fine veneer in violet and silk wood. In gilded bronze sabots standing, slightly curved legs with knee solutions as sculptural satyr mascarons. The short ones are also decorated with plastic mascarons in Louis XV style. Overhanging cover plate with corner solutions of mascarons, framed by a profiled brass bronze border, framed in vegetal relief. Top plate in red leather with vegetable ornamental gold hallmarking, tripartite. The side drawers are curved, the middle one straight and each with a cast chased ormolubron toe handle. Key labels in rocailles. Two keys available.
François Linke was an ebenist in Paris 1882-1946. In 1900 he opened his famous shop in the Place de Vendôme. Linke was specialized in the reproduction of Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture. He was awarded a gold medal at the 1900 World Fair for an exceptional table. The Revue Artistique et industrielle commented that Linke's stand was the largest show in the history of cabinet-making.
