Standing figure of the god of the sea with a strong physique, standing in the contrapost on a four-sided plinth cast in the mould. On the base there are hints of water flow. Between the legs the large head of a dolphin whose tail is held upwards by the hand of Neptune. The right hand holding a part of a staff, probably formerly shaped as a trident. The Herculean style of the Neptune figure refers to models from the 17th century. Beautiful dark brown patina. Marble base with streaks. Push-ups. (1220806) (13)
