In gilded frame with floral festoon and loop decoration with label of the frame maker J. Lorne & A. Haan on the back.
Knee piece of a seated lady turned to the left in a lime green dress with white translucent cover fabric and frill trimming. In her hand a blossom, her slim neck a chain.
Note:
Corcos, born in Livorno, was influenced by Domenico Morelli, whose student he was 1878 - 1879. In Paris he met Vincent van Gogh and Léon Bonnat, whose painting style of portraits of women inspired him. He also painted portraits of Emperor Wilhelm II and his wife (1904), Amélie of Orleans (Queen of Portugal) and Margaritha of Savoy (Queen of Italy). (1222381) (2) (13)
