A small Islamic mortar Cast bronze with silver plating and copper damascening. Slightly tapering form with a central horizontal rib, inclined lower rim and flaring upper rim. Decorated with calligraphic inscriptions. The base rounded due to use, a repaired crack to the upper rim, the silver plating worn in some areas. H 8.3, D 9.2 cm. Weight c. 8.5 kg. Attributed to Khorasan/Afghanistan, 12th - 13th century. Kleiner islamischer Mörser Bronzeguss mit Versilberung und Kupfertauschierung. Leicht konisch, mit Mittelwulst, konisch ansteigendem unteren und horizontal ausgezogenem oberen Rand. Umlaufende Kalligrafie. Boden durch Gebrauch konkav gehauen, am oberen Rand eine Rissreparatur, Versilberung in Stellen berieben. H 8,3, D 9,2 cm. Gewicht ca. 8,5 kg. Khorassan/Afghanistan, zugeschrieben, 12. - 13. Jh.
