A carved limestone bull's head container for the preparation of kohl or other cosmetics, with shallow well in the rectangular upper face; sockets to the eyes to accept inserts, with inked acquisition number 88.382 to the inside. 80.8 grams, 56mm (2 1/4"). Property of a central London gentleman; previously with a London, Mayfair, gallery in the early 1990s; with old inked 1988 collection reference number '88.382'.
