A jasper seal with ribbed loop, slightly flared body; the underside with intaglio motif of a turtle with splayed legs and curved bar with pellets; sidewall with three motifs: a tree or plant with spike limbs, an ibex with hatched panel to the tail and wing(?) to the shoulder, two human figures holding hands dancing; accompanied by two museum-quality impressions. 15.6 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; thence by descent; previously in an important private Mayfair, London collection, acquired after 1970; originally catalogued by Professor W.G. Lambert.
