Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A group of three bronze seals including one with guilloche spiral pattern, accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 32 x 31 x 17mm. this is roughly round, with flat face and modelled back in the centre of which is a handle of inverted U-shape. The design on the face, which is reflected in the modelled back, consists of a circle of guilloche with five spirals. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c.2300-2000 B.C. It is in good state of preservation and is a rare design.'; the rest comprising: one discoid with horned quadruped to the centre connected by irregular struts to a scalloped border, inverted U-shape handle to the reverse; one discoid with spiral pattern to the centre, reverse tapering up to a biconcial handle, pierced transversely. 185 grams total, 32-43 mm (1 1/4-1 3/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection numbers T-671, V-39, T-789, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
