An English or German engraved copper tea kettle, on spirit burner stand, probably mid-18th century, once probably silvered, the bulbous body with hunting scenes and surmounted with a bird-form finial, raised on a circular stand with central spirit burner and mask-pierced aprons between scrolling legs, 34cm high overall Examples on comparable stands are illustrated in Gentle & Feild, Domestic Metalwork, 1994, pp. 309-310. The first example particularly shares great similarities with the lot presented here. The Belinda Gentle Gallery at the Victoria & Albert Museum displays several related pieces.
