A George I gilt gesso 'landscape' wall mirror, circa 1720, the rectangular tryptic plate within a foliate moulded frame, flanked by foliate C-scroll and flowerhead roundel moulded sides, 43cm high, 130cm wide A similar mirror is illustrated from the Geffrye Museum is illustrated at page 274, plate 6:14 of Early Georgian Furniture 1715 - 1740 by Adam Bowett. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips, splits and losses (see images). Some rubbing and losses to gilt elements. Bevelled mercury plates have significant age and appear to be original. Carved foliate element to one side detached and lacking. Various old screw holes to the back from previous fixtures.
