A George II carved wood, cream painted and parcel gilt overmantel mirror, circa 1735, in the manner of William Kent, with egg and dart moulding throughout, the arched cornice centred by a carved shell terminal, above the inset painted canvas panel after Marinus Van Reymerswaele, the rectangular mirror plate below flanked by trailing bell flowers, 184cm high, 164cm deep Provenance: Purchased from Russellstown Park, Duckett Estate, Carlow in the 1950s. Sold Adams Auctioneers, Dublin, Lot 84, 13th October 2013. The grand house at Russellstown Park was built by William Duckett and was demolished in the 1950s by the Land Commission. Overmantels of this type are recorded at Ruthbeale Hall, Belvedere and Carnelly House, Ireland.
