A pair of George II cast silver shaped square candlesticks by John Jacob, London 1734, the square detachable sconces with incurved angles, octagonal reel capitals, inverted baluster knopped and moulded stems, the square bases with incurved angles and sunken centres, female masks and scrolls, step moulded sides, engraved with an R cypher beneath a baron's coronet, 23.5cm (9 1/4in) high, 1739g (55.9 oz) Condition Report: Both sticks sit well on a flat surface and are stable and do not wobble. Overall surface wear with minor scuffs, scratches and tiny pits commensurate with age, use and storage. The engraved pattern is slightly rubbed as expected from light polishing. No dents, dings or bruises. Hallmarks are clear and readable. The sconces later, with rubbed Victorian duty mark and standard mark only, but no splits. Condition Report Disclaimer
