A mid Victorian gold, diamond and garnet serpent necklace, circa 1870, the polished cabochon garnet head with rose cut diamond set eyes and nose, suspending an old cut diamond accented cabochon garnet heart shaped drop with an articulated diamond set drop, approximately 0.65 carats total, glazed locket verso, to a graduated snake link necklace, 40cm long, 40.5g gross Condition Report: The head section is composed of two cabochon panels, joined under the coiling tail, the bottom panel has a fracture to the garnet between the serpents eyes and one small fracture also running under the right eye. The articulated diamond set drop under the heart shaped panel may be later added. One of the hooked connectors on the chain at the head has broken off, but the three remaining hooks are still present, the other links have no visible damage, but it is impossible to look into the links, the necklace is well articulated Condition Report Disclaimer
