Y A Regency rosewood, inlaid and brass mounted sofa table, circa 1815, in the manner of John McLean, the rectangular twin flap top with rounded corners, above a two frieze drawers and two opposing false drawers, on squared trestle supports framing pierced trellis, on outswept tapering rectangular legs, terminating in brass lion paw caps and castors, 71cm high, 145cm wide (when open), 71cm deep For a closely related example of table incorporating similar brass pierced trellis ends see, Christie's, New York, Important English Furniture including a selection of Irish, 19th April 2001, Lot 38 ($23,500). For another sofa table of similar form and in the manner of Mclean see, Christie's, London, Important English Furniture, 27th November 2003, Lot 114 (£21,510). Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Some additional dark scratches and splits across top with filler used in places to help disguise. One handle detached but present. Some evidence of old worm to underside of top.
