A fine Austrian cold painted bronze model of a rabbit attributed to Franz Xavier Bergman (1861-1936), late 19th century, of large proportions, naturalistically painted with fawn coat, the underside indistinctly stamped DEPOSE GESCHUTZT and model number 1215, 13.5cm high, 16cm long Provenance: probably the example sold previously in these rooms, 29 August 2014, lot 885 (£2,400) The present bronze showcases the fine painted finish, naturalistic modelling and alertness usually associated with the Austrian sculptor Franz Bergman. It relates closely to versions of this model by Bergman which have recently appeared on the market, such as the one with Bergman's monogram sold at Woolley & Wallis, 8 July 2014, lot 393 (£4,200), which is also stamped with similar inscriptions to the underside.
