After Isidore-Jules Bonheur (1827-1901), a patinated metal model of a standing cow, the animal portrayed standing and with the head inclined slightly to dexter, on an oval naturalistically modelled base, inscribed 'i. Bonheur' to socle, 18cm high, 26cm wide Provenance: British Private Collection The present model relates to the known Bonheur model of a 'cow looking to the right with docile expression', which is listed by James Mackay in The Animaliers, London, 1973, appendix p.146 no. 23. A cast of a related model, with a slightly different tail, is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 52.126.2.
