A William & Mary oyster veneered, bone and specimen marquetry chest of drawers, circa 1690, 102cm high, 103cm wide, 63cm deep For a chest of closely related form see, Christie's, New York, 27th January 2000, European Furniture & Decorative Arts Including Ceramics, Lot 749 ($14,950). For a chest of the period incorporating similar marquetry see, Bonham's, London, 3rd June 2015, Britain - Defining the Interior, Lot 101 (£16,250). Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old, chips, splits and losses - see images. Handles are later replacements Feet are later replacements. Escutcheons are lacking. Lockplates to the two upper drawers have been removed and replaced by inset blocks of timber. No key present. Some fading to surface. Vacant screw holes to bottom of upper section from where the section where joined together. Some filler and small sections of replacement veneer used in places.
