A Louis XVI-style inlaid, parquetry and mahogany marble top commode, French c.1900, after Jean-Henri Riesener, modelled from the Concordant Commode at the Palais de Fontainebleau, the shaped and veined white marble top over three frieze drawers and shaped and panelled doors, the front of bowed, breakfront form, the sides flared, the drawers and frieze with ornate gilt bronze mounts, the doors inlaid with a central panel of an ewer and a basket of fruit on a specimen wood ground, flanked by panels with stylised flower heads, the sides conforming, within boldly cast gilt bronze mounts, 166cm wide 64cm deep 94cm high Condition report: Minor chips to edges of marble, mainly the back edge. Repaired split to one side panel. Smaller door with wear to hinge edge. Faded. One key. It could easily go straight into a grand house.
