A wood tonkotsu (tobacco box) 19th century The wide body carved in relief with two wrestlers in combat, the reverse similarly carved with a sennin seated on a rock beneath an overhanging branch, the wood somewhat worn and with a good patina; signed Saku kojin Banzan Masaaki. 8.5cm (3 3/8in) wide.
