A CARVED WALNUT AND EBONISED FIGURAL TORCHERE STAND MID 19TH CENTURY Of Blackamoor type 51cm high, the top 33cm diameter Condition Report: There are marks, scratches, knocks, cracks and abrasions. The dished top has a repaired crack across it, a patched area and a filled central fixing hole. The stepped base could possibly be a later date and it has splits across the sections. There is some evidence of old worm. The ebonised wood has a slightly opaque finish; it is rubbed to reveal the underlying wood in some places. There are cracks and splits with repairs including at least one later section of wood as the arm/elbow section of the figure's right arm. Overall in distressed condition.
