A GOLD LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF AMITHABA, LATE EDO PERIODJapan, 1615-1867. Standing on a hexagonal lotus base in samabhanga, the face with a serene expression and downcast eyes, the right hand raised in vitarkamudra and the left held in dhyanamudra, the hair arranged in spiral curls forming an ushnisha, wearing a robe open to reveal the chest, surrounded by a large mandorla with cloud motifs.
