A BLACK LACQUER SQUARE TRAY DEPICTING DAIKOKUJapan, Meiji period (1868-1912)The square tray with rounded edges and a black lacquer ground, supported on four feet, decorated in gold and silver takamaki-e, hiramaki-e as well as kirigane and e-nashiji depicting Daikoku leaning on his treasure bag, with both hands resting on his mallet, the hat inlaid in mother-of-pearl, with five scattered small ovals, two containing calligraphy, signed to the lower left.SIZE 36 x 36 x 12.5 cmCondition: Good condition with some wear to the lacquer, few chips along the rim, two repaired and light surface scratches.
