Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 1200-1500 AD Medieval dagger with short but broad blade. Short cross guard with ‘V’ marks punched on each end. The blade has a cutlers mark embossed near the hilt ‘T’. The pommel is square with a large X motif punched into the face. Each of the 4 arms of the X is crossed with a short line. The feature is therefore one of 4 crosses laid out to form a large letter X. Such symbolism was popular amongst the Knights Templar, for which this item could have been made. The surface has only slight surface pitting and the condition is good. Size: L:335mm / W:115mm ; 400g Provenance: Ex. European collection formed between 2000 to 2020.
