Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 14th-15th Century AD Medieval stiletto with long thin blade and handle. The blade is square sectioned at the hilt but transits into a diamond section soon after a makers mark, which is close to the hilt. This mark takes the form of an inlaid circle with a letter ‘A’ in the middle. The cross guard is a square section bar in the middle but is shaped into slightly tapered rods towards to outside. Here at the widest point are further bands of inlay, around the each end of the cross guard. The pommel is an odd shape, a hexagonal bar in line with the tang, with a groove separating a round ring at the top and the bottom. In the upper groove is further inlaid wire. There is some large pitting on the blade, other wise the condition is good. Size: L:385mm / W:95mm ; 260g Provenance: Ex. European collection formed between 2000 to 2020.
