Ca. 2300-1600 BC An ancient Akkadian hematite cylinder seal engraved with the imagery of a king engaging in a hunt. He is wearing royal robes and drawing a bow. In front is a mountain ibex. There is a symbol or animal between the king and the ibex but it hard to make out. Accompanied by a museum-quality impression. Size: L:34.3mm / W:13.8mm ; 12.33g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
