Ca. 2300-1600 BC An ancient Akkadian Cylinder Seal carved in hematite depicting a mountain goat bending down on one knee, above is a group of seven stars possibly representing the Pleiades constellation. In front is a small altar with the dragon-lion of the goddess Ishtar with the crescent moon and symbol for the planet Venus, both associated with Ishtar. Accompanied by a museum-quality impression. Size: L:32.5mm / W:16.5mm ; 15.54g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
