Ancient Greece, Cyprus, ca. 5th to 2nd century BCE. A stunning gold hoop earring comprised of a thick, tubular band in a torc form strung with silver, turquoise, and glass beads held in place by a slender gold wire. Largest of the group, a spherical, silver bead sits between a petite pair of rayed silver beads, which are then followed by a rectangular turquoise bead on one side and a faceted turquoise bead on the other. A red glass bead of a faceted form is displayed beside the rectangular turquoise bead. The hoop is then further adorned by another thin gold wire that wraps twice around the body.
