JUSTICE GINSBURG'S LAST PASSOVER CARD TO HER SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. This card, designed by artist Ruth Roberts and sold by the Skirball Cultural Center of Los Angeles, features an image of a dove taking flight before a background of Elijah's cup and a round piece of matzoh. The art is titled "The Hope," and refers to the traditional blessing that ends the Passover Seder: "Next year may we all be free / Next year in Jerusalem!" Justice Ginsburg adds a poignant postscript, written at the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, " Next year, together / Mom / LOD." "LOD" is short for the name given to Justice Ginsburg by her daughter-in-law: "Left-Over Druid." It originated when the choristers and costumers at the Washington National Opera in 2013 gifted Justice Ginsburg with a shawl made from pieces of lustrous material remaining after all the Druid Priestesses in Bellini's Norma had been clothed. Justice Ginsburg delighted in the affection shown her by members of WNO, in the shawl itself, and in the special name her daughter-in-law lovingly teased her with. None
