When not in her judicial robes, Justice Ginsburg was often photographed in tailored pants with an elegant woolen or silk shawl around her shoulders. This particular shawl was a favorite of hers, as it was a souvenir purchased in one of the most magical places on earth. For more than 30 years, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her family spent a portion of her summer recess in Santa Fe, New Mexico, primarily to enjoy the beautiful skies and open-air performances of the Santa Fe Opera, but also to enjoy the museums and shopping in the area. Justice Ginsburg can be seen wearing the shawl in a 2017 visit backstage at the Santa Fe Opera's production of Lucia di Lammermoor, and in a photograph that apanies a 2019 interview with NPR. None
