French table clock. Empire period, pps. 19th century. Gilt bronze. Movement signed "Pickard" and numbered. One hand missing. Missing pendulum and key. Machinery needs to be overhauled. Measurements: 40 x 23,5 x 10 cm. On a gilt bronze base, covered with chiselled foliage in the form of fretwork, rests the figure of a troubadour playing what must have been a lute (the instrument has been lost). The figure sits on the clock case, set within the representation of a natural rock or promontory that shelters the musician. The dial, signed by Pickard in Avignon, has Roman numerals in black on white. The hand (only one has survived) is of the Breguet type.
