A GREEN AND YELLOW-GLAZED BISCUIT 'MOUNTAIN' BRUSHRESTKangxi The curved brushrest with five 'peaks', one side moulded with a qilin and coin, the other side with a fish leaping from crashing waves, all glazed yellow, green and brown. 12.2cm (4 3/4in) wide. He made a considerable fortune on the Stock Exchange and began to collect pictures and art works on a large scale in 1878. He left his collection to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. A closely related brushrest with similar decoration, dated as 16th/17th century, is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (acc.no.C.120-1939). A related biscuit famille verte brushrest, Kangxi, was sold at Christie's Paris, 14 December 2011, lot 465.
