Markell, who established the family business Markell Shoes focusing on orthopedic footwear and orthotic devices. Richard and his wife Maxine (1935-2019) were avid collectors of Asian art, specializing in Chinese porcelain. Over the years, the couple amassed an extraordinary selection of extremely well-enameled pieces.
