此梅瓶小口、短颈、丰肩，瘦底、圈足的瓶式，以口小只能插梅枝而得名。因瓶体修长，宋时称为“经瓶”，作盛酒用器，此拍品造型挺秀、俏丽，明朝以后被称为梅瓶。清代时期各地瓷窑均有烧制，以元代景德梅瓶最为精湛。
