A RARE DRY LACQUER HEAD OF BUDDHA
Burma, 18th – earlier 19th century. A large and finely gilt depiction of Buddha Shakyamuni with downcast eyes and benevolent expression, elongated earlobes, distinct curly hair and a domed ushnisha.
Provenance: An old Bavarian private collection of Tibetan works of art. Old collector’s paper label to backside with inventory number ‘31’.
Condition: Fine condition with old wear, traces of use and some losses as visible on the images in the catalogue and at www.zacke.at.
