本品和阗白玉质，质料上乘，温润柔和。立体雕琢成荷叶形笔掭，荷叶边缘两侧莲花盛开，此笔掭雕工精细，细部纹路丝丝入微，生动逼真。莲花以宝石为装饰，仿效宫内痕都斯坦玉器风格。痕都斯坦玉器在清朝的宫廷中是非常名贵而特别的一种，精美绝伦。痕都斯坦本为清代对北印度的称谓，而痕都斯坦玉器则泛称宫中所藏中亚等地区的玉器。这些玉器的装饰很有当地文化特点，有些在器壁上镶嵌金、银细丝及红、绿、黄、蓝等各色宝石或玻璃。采用水磨技术，胎体透薄，有“西昆玉工巧无比，水磨磨玉薄如纸”之说。
