English School, 1872 An Italian palazzo with figures on steps in the foreground; The interior of a palazzo with elegant figures two, both signed with initials 'AB' and dated '72 l.r., watercolour and bodycolour 48 x 69cm and 47 x 62cm (2) Condition report: Interior scene: The paper has discoloured and is a yellowy brown. The top left corner has cockled. Many small tears at the edges of the paper, particularly down the two sides. All four corners are damaged, to various degrees, some quite major tearing, and have been repaired and painted over in places. There are spots of brown foxing in places, and some scattered white spots too. Surface scratches and abrasions, leading to paint losses, scattered throughout. The gum arabic is cracking in some places also. Not seen outside of glazed frame. Steps: The paper has discoloured a little. A little cockling top left and a couple of small holes. There are various small tears at the edges of the paper. The two lower corners are damaged and ripped, and have been painted over. There is a large patch of torn damage in the middle of the top edge which has been painted over. Some scattered dots of foxing and some pale spots also. Occasional surface scratches and abrasions, and small dots of paint loss. The gum arabic is cracking in places. A little surface dirt. Not seen outside of glazed frame.
