Attributed to James Warren Childe (1780-1862) Portrait of Mrs Frazer, three-quarter length, in a black dress with lace cuffs and collar, in an interior watercolour on ivory 30 x 25cm, in a gilt-metal frame within a glazed wooden outer frame Condition report: A horizontal split in the ivory in the right hand side, level with the top of the sitter's head. A very faint horizontal crack, or possibly a join, running across the width of the painting, level with the sitter's hands. Some light surface scratches and abrasions, and the occasional small flake of paint loss. A pale area around the sitter's head which implies an alteration has been made, possibly a veil removed. Many small spots of dark grey foxing or damp in the lower half. Some cracking of the gum arabic, especially the sitter's dress. A little dust and dirt. Not seen outside of glazed frame.
