Kananga), Jean-Bosco Kamba intègre l'Académie des Beaux-Arts d'Elisabethville en 1953 et fera partie des huit artistes pris à part par Moonens pour travailler en coopérative à ses côtés. Ses oeuvres sont sélectionnées pour une tournée d’expositions en Europe en 1955-56 et il participe, également en 1956, à la réalisation des peintures murales du théâtre d'Elisabethville. Miniaturiste dans l’âme, Kamba affectionnait particulièrement les petits formats. Le chef d’oeuvre présenté ici illustre parfaitement le raffinement avec lequel il peignait la nature, une composition minutieuse et équilibrée qui s’approche de l’art des estampes extrême-orientales. Son sens du détail donne presque au spectateur l’envie d’aller toucher les plumes… L’oeuvre est reproduite en pleine page dans Beauté Congo – 1926-2015 – Congo Kitoko, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Paris, 2015, p. 145. -- Originally from Luluabourg (now Kananga), Jean-Bosco Kamba joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Elisabethville in 1953 and was one of the eight artists selected by Moonens to work with him in a cooperative capacity. Some of his works were selected for a tour of exhibitions in Europe in 1955-56. He also participated in 1956 in the creation of murals for the Elisabethville theatre. A miniaturist at heart, Kamba was particularly fond of small formats. The masterpiece presented here perfectly illustrates the refinement with which he painted nature, a meticulous and balanced composition that approaches the art of Far Eastern prints.
