A GILT, ENAMELED AND GRISAILLE-DECORATED FAMILLE ROSE ‘WEIQI PLAYERS’ DISH, 18TH CENTURY China. The shallow rounded sides rising from a short foot with recessed base to a broad everted rim. Finely painted in bright enamels with three scholars seated in a terraced garden playing weiqi (go) under a gnarled pine tree with fruit dishes on a low table. The rim decorated with shaped reserves enclosing alternating stylized flowerheads and lotus sprays decorated in grisaille and gilt against a pink scrolling vine design, with black line borders.

Provenance: UK market, by repute acquired from an English private collection.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and minimal firing irregularities as well as minor rubbing to gilt and enamels.
