A FAMILLE ROSE ‘DOUBLE COCKEREL’ DISH, YONGZHENG PERIOD
China, 1723-1735. Painted to the center with a pair of cockerels, one perched upon rockwork, all surrounded by large flowering peony and magnolia blossoms. The cavetto with fine floral décor in white enamels, the lip in café au lait glaze.
Provenance: From an old French private collection, by descent in the same family since the end of the 19th century.
Condition: Superb condition with only minor wear, and shallow surface scratches, mostly to the black enamel. Little nibbling to the foot rim, a microscopic hairline on the base, not visible from the front. Some manufacturing irregularities such as pitting and dark spots.
