Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 13th Century AD A falchion of the ‘Cleaver ‘type. This weapon has a round pommel with inlay. The inlay looks like two crescents back to back. The cross guard is a simple bar type flattened at the ends. Through the ends have been punched with equal arm crosses. The blade has a straight flat back, emphasized with a thin fuller. The blade is broad and the end curves to the tip with a concave edge. This is reminiscent of Eastern scimitars however, we can be in no doubt of the Western manufacture. The crosses suggest that it was made on Crusade influenced by local designs. Overall the condition is excellent with only light surface pitting. Size: L:795mm / W:188mm ; 1.20kg Provenance: Ex. European collection formed between 2000 to 2020.
