Ca. 2300-1600 BC An ancient Akkadian cylinder seal engraved with the representation of a male figure, possibly a king, making an offering at a small altar to a cow with bull mounting it. Between the king and the bull is a standard with the crescent moon and planet Venus, symbols of the goddess Ishtar. Accompanied by a museum-quality impression. Size: L:35.8mm / W:17.4mm ; 18.3g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
