**Originally Listed At $1800** Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Mississippian, ca. 1000 to 1360 CE. A fabulous coil-formed Bell Plain pottery jar displaying a round yet stable base, a bulbous body, and a broad, concave neck that rises to a gently-flared, circular rim. Enveloped in a gorgeous shade of deep taupe, the ancient vessel s rounded shoulder is adorned with an elegant motif known as Mound Place consisting of four parallel incised striation that swirl in ribbon-like loops around the jar s neck. This technique was usually only used on bowls, making this a very rare example. Size: 6.5" in diameter x 7" H (16.5 cm x 17.8 cm) This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated.
