**Originally Listed At $300** North Pacific, Hawaii, ca. mid-20th century CE. Signed "Koa / L. Bailey". A gorgeous wood bowl, carved with a flat, circular base and sloping walls that span outwards to a wide, annular rim, all sitting upon a narrow, discoid foot. The rim has been skillfully sculpted to turn upward at its edge. The elegant vessel additionally boasts a smooth woodgrain surface in hues of butterscotch and caramel with natural striations of chocolate brown. The foot of the vessel is inscribed with "Koa / L. Bailey". A wonderful example made from wood of the flowering Koa tree, which in the Hawaiian language translates to "fearless warrior".
