19th Century carved Chinese Shoushan statue of Hvashang, the Chinese patron to the Sixteen Great Arhats. Hvashang is a human figure, often dark in complexion with one hand holding a crystal 'mala,' a garland of beads for counting prayers. In the other hand he hold a persimmon fruit. Adorned with opulent robes he is seated in a casual fashion. The iconographic features are his portly size and the bead mala, which can be in either hand, along with a bald head and leisurely posture, with a qilin sporting and playing on his shoulder. The statue preciously displayed upon a silk covered hard cushion stand.Measurements: 75mm H x 92mm W x 67mm D
