18th Century antique pair of Chinese Huanghuali horseshoe back round arm chairs, QuanYi. Constructed with sweeping crest rail terminating in out swept hooks above the gracefully curved standing on a curved back splat and elegantly curved rear posts, which continue to form the rear legs. The round frame encloses the S-shaped splat, open-works carved with ruyi motif, above the rectangular hard mat seat. The legs are joined by stepped stretchers and a footrest with plain apron and spandrels. The wood displays attractive golden reddish-brown tone, with translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns appearing like ghost faces and fine grains appearing like wheat pattern motif.
