A Dehua figure of Guanyin, Qing Dynasty, mid to late 17th century, shown seated a rock, the right knee resting on the ground and the foot tucked under, the left knee raised, supporting the left hand, the hair combed back in thick strands, the high chignon mostly hidden under a loosely draped scarf that falls down over her shoulders, the hands separately modelled, the right hand is holding a scroll, and both arms are adorned with bracelets, the outer garment with elaborate folds, the hollow underside shows firing cracks, the white porcelain body is covered with a very fine creamy ivory-tinged glaze, which also covers the inside but leaves the flat underside free, 21.5cm high Provenance: From a Noble English family, prior to 1921 17世纪 德化观音 拍品来源:英国显赫贵族私人收藏,购自1921年前 Condition Report: one of the the separately modelled hands (left) slightly loose to the feel and signs of looting plaster to both so both look like they have been re-attached at some point The tips fingers of the fingers on the right hand all missing except the little finger and the tip of the thumb missing and on the left hand two finger tips missing otherwise just firing faults mainly to interior Condition Report Disclaimer
