Pilaster; Italy, 16th century. Carved stone. Measurements: 97.5 x 12 x 13.5 cm. Stone pilaster that stands out for its carved decoration. Despite the damage to the piece, the reliefs that decorate it are still in good condition. These follow the aesthetics of classical motifs, based on scrolls and symmetrical plant elements. This ornamentation reached its height of splendour in the Renaissance period, when part of the rooms that made up Nero's palace, known as the Domus Aurea, were discovered.
